Bouldering in the Peaks

Including total novices will quickly be climbing protected Peak District rock faces on this weekend session. Participants will master tying in, belaying and a range of climbing techniques, as well as rappelling. Modern Art in AndalucĂ­a

Moclín, a ancient town in Andalucía, around a short drive from Granada, is the inspiring backdrop for this art retreat. Participants of all abilities – even novices – will learn how to plan and create abstract artworks. Some time will be spent in the open air, working on structured activities out in nature. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be expanded upon in the studio, with participants creating multiple abstract landscapes in acrylic paint to be exhibited in the village. The group has sole use of the venue, which is set around an central patio and has a rooftop with views over the hills. The fee covers five days of painting tuition; all meals; and an trip to the nearby fortress and additional points of interest.

Vegetarian Cooking in the Algarve

This Mediterranean cooking retreat, set on a riverside villa in the inland Portuguese region, is inspired by the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Participants will master the art of meze spreads, attend a hands-on falafel session, perfect mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. There are visits to the village market and a nearby winery to sample local vintages, along with leisure time for strolls by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a renovated rural property, has five bedrooms, plus glamping tents in the gardens.

Street Dance in High Wycombe

This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a high-energy warm-up session, then several 90-minute workshops covering various urban dance forms, then an hour-long jam to show off those solos. Participants are split into groups according to ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are completely new to popping and locking, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. This event doesn’t include lodging but there are a number of places to stay within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by train into London.

Sea Shanty Weekend in Cornwall

This coastal town is the perfect location for a maritime music retreat. Guests will learn traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. The schedule includes vocal warmups, breathing exercises, performance tips and a final evening concert. The retreat is based at a country house overlooking the bay. All meals are included, including a traditional tea on the first day, breakfast options, lunches to go and evening meals. Grog, unfortunately, is not included. Creative Writing in Greece

Author and tutor an experienced instructor leads the regular sessions on this writing retreat. He explores topics including plot, characters, locations and suspense, to submitting work to publishers. Greg’s wife, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – 10 private accommodations are set around a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share). On the final evening, aspiring writers mark the occasion with a concert in the courtyard and a final meal.

Introduction to Apiculture in Mid Wales

A leading eco-centre near Machynlleth runs a host of courses covering sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This two-day course will help participants get to grips with the fundamentals of beekeeping, explore the biology of honeybees and learn about their environmental benefits. It is aimed at produce “ecologically mindful beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's sustainably managed woodlands, which are habitat for polecats, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and rare birds. Sailing for Novices in Essex

These new weekend sailing courses are spent on dinghies and keelboats on the Blackwater estuary. They are designed for novice sailors learning the ropes or more experienced mariners who want a refresher. Sailors can improve their helming, build their seamanship and aim for the recognized levels one to three in a fun, welcoming environment. There are non-residential and overnight packages, with accommodation in simple dorms in the waterside sailing school.
