Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
