Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
